  1. A MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER
My name is Raphael E. Hall and as a veteran educator having taught in the GA public school system for over twelve years. During my teaching experience I realized that there was a crisis going on right in front of me. The crisis was the emotional, social and intellectual deterioration of our young boys. The constant negative misleading messages that our youth are constantly bombarded with through television, videos, radio, internet and other social media outlets. As a result this has led to the corrosion of our young men having the capacity to dream big dreams or to set high goals for themselves, they lack vision and direction. They are not being taught about what a great work ethic is or how to build a strong character or the importance a high value system. As a result our children are suffering and the future of America will suffer as well if something is not done.
For many years seeing this tragedy evolve right before my eyes was breaking my heart feeling that I couldn't do anything about it. But it filled my heart to try. Then I thought about what the late writer poet James Baldwin once said “ We can't change everything we face, but nothing can be changed until we face it” I was blessed to see an opportunity present itself by initiating a in school club that would have as its goal to build up and develop young men. We would achieve this through introducing youth to the principle of a great value system composed of integrity vision and a great work ethic. Thus the Elite Gentlemen Club was created and founded in 2006. The Elite Gentlemen Club (also known as EGC) exposes our young men to a wealth of resources put together specifically for them. Our leadership, academic enhancement, personal and business development programs give our young men a solid foundation that will allow them to transition into multiple phases of life.
Some of our low-performing students have found acceptance and accountability in the EGC family and have subsequently excelled in many areas of life. Some of our higher-performing students have gone to business forums and stood before adults and masterfully pitched their business aspirations and been invited to participate in national entrepreneurial competitions. Whether high or low performing, outgoing or shy, or well-mannered or unruly we have created a positive environment for our young men. In EGC, our male youth have an opportunity to grow and flourish and spend time with adult males who are interested in their growth and development. I am excited, elated and humbled with the direction that our club has taken.
What I see in the future for EGC is the spreading of this message from a few middle and high schools to becoming a local, regional and national powerhouse. I envision EGC equipping young men of all social, economic and racial backgrounds with a message that needs to be seen and understood by their peers and modeled by the adults. The message is simple: although we are a diverse group let’s build unity, although our experiences and backgrounds may be different let’s draw off of the strengths, and finally let’s listen and imitate those who have paved the way and provided positive leadership for us to follow. This is especially true with the mentors who serve in the program. I want to encourage you to invest in EGC and help to plant seeds of hope for our future generations.
    Sincerely,
    Raphael E. Hall
